I thoroughly enjoyed studying for the Risk Management Level 1 and 2 training. Especially thankful for the PLP trainers Allan and Mike, their style is always engaging and deep, with a great splash of humour and comradery. They always found ways to simplify difficult concepts into easily understandable chunks. I would highly recommend this course to anyone wishing to advance their career in risk management, project management or PMO, or for those just looking for some extra intellectual stimulation!

I took part in the APM Risk SSC Level 1 & 2 course earlier this year and although it was a challenging and intense undertaking, I thoroughly enjoyed my experience. Allan Robinson made the material come to life and used real world experiences to illustrate key learnings and really showed how the theory could be used in practice. The virtual learning setting was made more enjoyable with the use of breakout rooms for group exercises and this also meant you got to know other candidates better as course progressed and led to some great debates and discussions. The course does require you to fully engage and set aside time to review and digest the material outside of the sessions; but you get out of it what you put into it and I was extremely happy to come out of it having passed both Levels 1 & Level 2. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to other people looking to move into Risk Management.

Both the Level 1 and Level 2 Risk Management courses were extremely enjoyable and valuable. Whilst the L1 course helped to reinforce Risk Management fundamentals and allowed us to acclimatise to specific APM language, L2 granted an opportunity to engage with a range of interesting case studies, enabling us to apply what we had learnt in a practical manner. Having been relatively inexperienced in Risk Management prior to the course, I now feel confident and eager to take on a risk-based role in the future.

I would definitely recommend L1 and L2 Risk Management courses for people wanting to expand their Risk Management knowledge and awareness. Having already studied a PM degree and undertaken other APM courses, I had some existing knowledge of RM, but these courses allowed me to learn things in more detail and feel more comfortable with RM concepts. This was all helped by trainers who were clearly extremely knowledgeable and experienced, answering any questions we might have had, and referring to practical examples which strengthened our understanding.

I had a highly positive experience with the APM Risk Level 1 and 2 Training course. Alan and the rest of the course leaders did a great job of covering the syllabus criteria needed to attain the APM qualifications, whilst still conveying the range and subtleties actually involved in practising risk management. The group discussion/workshop-style sessions supported in-depth discussion of case studies and areas of uncertainty, as well as empowering everyone to engage and receive critical feedback. As a student with little experience in the world of project management, I would encourage others in a similar position to participate in the course if they are considering it; as the skills and experience I gained were applicable to my life. The planning tools I learned from the risk management process have enabled me to approach my studies in a more systematic and controlled way; whilst the exposure to group discussion and problem solving exposed me to a professional team-working environment. Above all, the participatory structure of the sessions improved my self-confidence.
