PROJECT FUNDAMENTALS QUALIFICATION (PFQ) VS. PROJECT MANAGEMENT QUALIFICATION (PMQ)

We are often asked the question ‘Which of your Project Management courses is most suitable for me?’. Unfortunately, we can’t answer the question for you, but we can provide you with the differences between the Project Fundamentals Qualification and Project Management Qualification to help you make the right choice.

Deciding whether to take the Association for Project Management (APM) Project Fundamentals Qualification (PFQ) or Project Management Qualification (PMQ) depends on a number of factors, such as;

  • What exactly you want to gain from the qualification
  • How much time you want to devote to studying
  • The level of Project Management (PM) knowledge and experience you already have.
WHAT IS THE PFQ?

The PFQ is a full time, 3-day course with a multi-choice examination on the final day. The course is the perfect introduction to the core concepts of PM, taking a practical look at some of the key theoretical ideas of the PM profession and exploring how these relate to the modern workplace.

WHO SHOULD TAKE THE PFQ?

The PFQ is suitable for a broad range of professionals from a number of different industries and backgrounds. This course has been designed for individuals who are relatively new to the world of project management and are wanting to gain a broad understanding of the key principles and concepts. It is an ideal way to break into the PM profession; we all know the importance of qualifications when applying for PM and Project Management Office (PMO) opportunities. We typically recommend the course for those who have little to no knowledge of or experience in PM.

So, what about the PMQ?

WHAT IS THE PMQ?

The PMQ is designed to provide a more advanced understanding of PM theory and concepts, as well as a working understanding of how these can be implemented to deliver successful projects in the workplace. You also gain an insight into popular Project Management tools such as Microsoft Project. The course lasts 15 weeks, part-time, with an examination on the final day.

WHO IS THE PMQ FOR?

The PMQ is designed for professionals looking to take the next step in their project careers. Applicants typically have some pre-existing PM knowledge or experience, and it is the ideal next step for anyone holding the PFQ.

Both courses have the added benefit of getting you an internationally recognised and respected qualification at the end of your hard work!
