Project Management Training Courses

Welcome to the PLP Training Homepage! We offer a diverse range of training opportunities. From 2 day courses available to anyone who wants to develop their knowledge further to complex in house training and support for specific software packages. Our team is led by Mike and Paul, both of whom have huge amounts of experience in training and industry, having taught for a number of years in Higher Education as well as having separate industry experience.

Together we take a pride in the courses we deliver and the results we achieve and will go further than any other training team to support you through your training and towards your qualification.

Our core principles

  1. We believe in face to face training. Only by being in the room with you can we effectively communicate the ideas and principles in an effective way. We believe our pass rates demonstrate the effectiveness of this approach.
  2. If you’re working hard then so will we. If you need a little extra help to get over the line we’re more than happy to do so.
  3. We try and relate all of the principles and ideas to real world examples in industries that you know.

Yes. We have designed and delivered courses ranging from simple introductions to project management to risk management to more sophisticated training around implementation of Enterprise Planning solutions. Please call and ask for Mike Bates to discuss your requirements.

Yes and no! If you wish to undertake the Project Fundamentals Qualification, the answer is no. However, if you are considering the Project Management Qualification, then you will need to have some knowledge and experience of working in a project environment. Unsure of the relevance of your experience? Call Mike on 07765 892914 to discuss.[/

No. I’m afraid we are great believers in face to face delivery so that we are able to support you when you find difficulty with some of the topics. Furthermore, we think that humour and enthusiasm are key ingredients of any course delivery and you will find these in abundance.

We do not have an online booking system which allows you to book and pay online. Instead, if you wish to pay by card we can send you an e-invoice with a secure payment link via email enabling quick and easy payment.

Yes, we run two courses; the Project Fundamentals Qualification (PFQ) is a two-and-a-half-day introduction to project management.  The Project Management Qualification (PMQ) is a 5 day course for those with some knowledge and experience of project management. The PMW is for those looking to develop their knowledge and career aspirations within the profession. PLP project management training is accredited by the Association for Project Management to deliver both of these courses. Our pass rates are  well in excess of the national averages

For the past two years our pass rate in the PFQ has been 100%. In the same period, the pass rate for the Project Management Qualification is approaching 90% which is nearly 15% about the national average.

One of the strengths of PLP is that we care about our delegates. If you are unfortunate enough to fail, you will be able to undertake a resit for which there is a charge. However, we would invite you to attend courses (either the full course or just the parts you found difficult) in the future at no additional charge and we are prepared to offer some one to one support where we feel the individual would particularly benefit. You might have to buy the coffee and biscuits though!

The Association for Project Management is the recently chartered professional body for the discipline of project management within the UK. As part of its remit, it establishes standards and codes of practice for what the aspiring project professional needs to know. It sets the syllabus and examinations for the PFQ and PMQ and assesses project management training providers like PLP Training to see that its course material and trainers meet the relevant standard.

The PFQ is a two and a half day full time course and the PMQ is 5 days full time. We do run an evening only version of the PMQ in Leeds as a one night per week option. This is run on Thursday evenings and takes 13 weeks. We are currently reviewing whether there is demand for the PFQ in a similar once per week evening format which would take about 6 weeks. Please let Mike know – – if this route is of interest to you or your organisation.

For our two APM courses the answer is yes. For the PFQ you will be sent some pre-reading material in advance of the course start. This is about the project life cycle and helps you to establish a framework of key concepts on which to develop your learning. For the PMQ, the process is the same, but the material is more substantial and will be sent earlier.

Exams!!. The PFQ has a one hour multi-choice examination at the end of the course. The PMQ is a three hour written examination where the delegates have to answer 10 questions from a choice of 16. Our other courses typically do not have an associated assessment, but on some bespoke courses these can be arranged where it is felt that this will assist with the learning.
