Luke Mason

Luke Mason BSc (Hons)Luke Mason
Senior Project Planning & Controls

Luke is an experienced project management professional with a broad understanding of project controls, which he applies to ensure high standards and a holistic approach to planning. He has a diverse understanding of project management facets and principles within the PMO environment, gained through practical work-based experience and a four-year Project Management Degree.

With experience gained in business and project environments supporting the production of work stream and high level plans, Luke has also been recently involved in implementation of planning processes, best practice standards and project assurance.

Luke is a Prince2 Practitioner and holds APMG Agile Project Management certification.

Luke is currently coming to the end of a successful contract with JD Sports PLC, where he has supported the implementation of a retail Oracle solution to replace and upgrade existing legacy systems. He was an integral part of the PMO, working on many project support functions including Risk and Issue Management, Change Management and Reporting.

His main responsibility was managing and tracking the programme and portfolio plans, which included more than 25 individual projects. Additionally, Luke implemented best practice planning standards to increase planning maturity across the organisation.

Luke’s previous role was assisting EDF Energy in the delivery and transition of their business billing system – initially in its readiness to accept a new system and enabling employees to use the functionality delivered. As the project reached final migration, Luke had increased responsibility to create and track the high level programme planning and transition closure planning.

Prior roles include support of the Network Rail programme management team, with responsibility for enhancing and maintaining the East Coast Main Line.

Clients include EDF Energy, Network Rail, the Health Service department at Leeds Metropolitan University.

Luke was a true asset in his time with us and quickly became an integral part of the team. I am sure he will be an asset wherever he works. On a tactical level, he provided excellent support in the procurement and development of a £250m railway project.

However, it was his behavioural attributes that added the most value and he quickly became part of the team, due to his diligence, hard work and openness to new learning.

I worked with Luke at JD Sports PLC, where he was providing an excellent planning service for the Oracle RMS programme of work. This was a very complex, large piece of fluid work which required precise control, Luke provided this in a professional, highly competent and collaborative way. High demands were made of him, but throughout Luke remained cheerful and in control.
